This Hunter Shiraz is intense crimson in colour, with dense purple to the rim. Aromas are equally powerful and enticing: full perfumes of blackcurrant and black cherry fill the glass with cassis-like inkiness, combining with deep oak-spice aromas of vanilla and subtle scents of sandalwood and vanilla.
The palate is equally compelling, showing fully ripe, rich and bold Hunter Shiraz, delivering a dense core of black cherry with beautiful spicy freshness. The drought of 2019 has generated significantly more depth of fruit and tannin, and this wine delivers all elements of intensity with gentle harmony and charm. Fine oak chimes onto the finish with long lasting hints of fine fumé and wood-spice.
2019 is a great Hunter Vintage, and this Shiraz has great cellaring potential. Although it drinks beautifully already, keep for 10 years and beyond for the best reward.
